GetOn has developed office space for 12 black owned businesses on the third floor of our Pretoria Centre, supporting the businesses through ongoing mentorship, networking sessions and facilities including a fully functional reception, board room and communication infrastructure for them to build their businesses reducing their financial pressure as a start-up

While South Africa is a beautiful country full of opportunity and possibility, it is faced with many challenges. Unemployment is one of the biggest problems in South Africa. Two million young people aged between 19-24 years are neither employed nor in an educational institution. The GetOn Skills Development Centre is looking to address this issue by creating a business incubation hub for entrepreneurs in need of support around the Atteridgeville area in Pretoria. The building they are setting this up in needed urgent renovations as the third floor was almost at the point of needing to be demolished because of health and safety concerns. Builders and Take My Hand got involved in providing the donation necessary for this renovation.

Creating jobs and reducing unemployment are key social challenges in South Africa. This is an overview of GetOn Skills Development in 2013.

40,000 to 80,000 people live in the informal settlement Brazzaville, part of the township of Atteridgeville, just outside Pretoria. More than 90% of them is unemployed. Brazzaville hardly has any facilities or infrastructure. This video tells the story of Betty Tlabela, a former GetOn student, and her Day Care Centre in Brazzaville, South Africa

Our Point of Sales course is designed for people looking to secure employment in a Retail outlet as a cashier. Students will be proficient in all transactions undertaken at the point of sale terminal after completing our program.

In November 2013 our GetOn Skills Development Centre was a main topic on "Growing Tomorrow". "Growing Tomorrow" a programme that is shown every weekday on SABC2 focuses on the development of the rural areas in South Africa. Development issues discussed are: Small Business & Finance, Community Development, Job Creation & Skills Development as well as Land Matters. Watch the show of 15 November 2013 here. The man behind Lead SA and Crime Line at our GetOn Skills Development Centre in Pretoria West. Yusuf Abramjee started his career in journalism as a freelancer for Talk Radio 702 ahead of the country's first democratic elections in 1994. Crime became his beat and soon after, in 1996, he was appointed the crime editor for Radio 702 and its Cape counterpart, 567. After he was appointed Primedia Broadcasting's group head of news and talk programming in 2005, Abramjee and a group of others founded the Crime Line Campaign, which was officially launched in June 2007 with him at the helm. The outcome of this course is to create entrepreneurs, and to motivate individuals to exceed their expectations. We equip the students with both baking skills and business skills which enables them to go home and start a sustainable business

The Basic Computer course equips students with basic computer skills giving them a solid foundation of how to use a computer. This course teaches both software and hardware components of a Computer and covers both theory and practical computer knowledge. Throughout the course students develop skills in computer components, E-mailing skills, word processing skills and browser search skills. Students use this learnt knowledge to prepare personal budgets, Curriculum Vita's, cover letters and browser search for job vacancies.

GetOn Skills Development works closely with the surrounding communities, this is a summary of "The Can Campaign" helping a small day care centre in Brazzaville, in Atteridgeville.

GetOn Skills Development Centre (Get On) seeks to bring change by offering ambitious people in impoverished communities outcome-based skills development and entrepreneurial training that quickly leads to economic activity. Our vision is to grow and sustain efficient and effective skills development programmes that empower people, enhance dignity and encourage independence. We achieve this through commitment and teamwork and engaging with communities to improve the quality of lives through targeted educational programmes aimed at creating stable families and empowered, independent individuals. GetOn provides training to disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16-30, 100% of whom are black South Africans. Our high calibre staff are involved in all aspects of our holistic training programmes which integrate Life Skills and Work Experience into all the courses offered. Graduates of our programs enter into the economic workforce of South Africa, either through employment opportunities or entrepreneur development.
